Fintech Chiliz has linked up with Legia Warsaw to launch the club’s own $LEG fan token on blockchain-based platform Socios.com.

Through the agreement, $LEG fan token owners will have access to a range of benefits, including the right to vote in multiple club decisions each season, VIP rewards and experiences, exclusive club and sponsor promotions, games, competitions and ‘super-fan’ recognition.

The 15-time Ekstraklasa champions will become the first Polish club to join the platform and launch a fan token in order to increase engagement with Legia Warsaw supporters.

Legia Warsaw joins a handful of European giants, including FC Barcelona, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan, AS Roma, Atletico Madrid and Galatasary, in joining the Chiliz-powered platform which has already been downloaded by over 500,000 people since its launch.

In 2020, fan tokens generated over $30 million in revenue for Socios.com clubs and partners. In late December and early January, various fan tokens were listed on major global exchanges, including Binance, driving significant activity, with Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG) and Juventus ($JUV) trading volumes hitting a 24 hour high of $300 million in late December.
