Scientific Games orders US ‘retail checkout makeover’ to be led by InComm solutions

Announced as a major retail directive, Scientific Games Corporation (SGC) has partnered with US in-store merchant systems provider InComm to expand its sales point capabilities for lottery draws and scratch card games ‘at the point of checkout’.

The partnership will foster a new in-store checkout solution, optimising the sale and purchase of lottery-based products as a quick and convenient function for US consumers. It is expected that the alliance will help revitalise US lottery retail sales which currently ‘top $81 billion annually’.

Since 2015, InComm has led a number of projects for SGC amplifying the lottery systems provider’s in-store payment solutions for leading US mass-market retailers (convenience stores, gas stations, supermarkets, pharmacies etc).

“Our vision for retail innovation includes integrated solutions that support lottery revenues with the most advanced technology possible,” said Randall Lex, VP Lottery Retail Solutions for Scientific Games.

“This partnership with InComm is another example of Scientific Games’ commitment to invest in retail innovation that opens opportunities for lotteries to bring products safely, quickly and conveniently to players wherever they are.”

Leading the directive, Lex stated that SGC and InComm have begun working on developing new merchant-level synergies, focusing on simplifying consumer purchase of lottery products at the point of checkout.

The partnership has trailed successful new concepts, launching instant ‘quick pick-up options’ for US Powerball and Mega Million draws within the state of Arizona.

Supporting SGC directives, InComm highlighted its network of +130,000  ‘US big box retailers’ in which the partnership will be able to test its new checkout solution against the highest volume of lottery sales.

“Central to this partnership is the shared objective of responsibly growing lottery revenues and attracting new customers for lotteries and retailers alike,” said Tim Richardson, Senior Vice President, for InComm.

“InComm and the retailers we support are excited by the innovation opportunities that this partnership represents. Most importantly, we’re honoured to support the ultimate beneficiaries of lottery programs which are people and communities throughout the U.S.”
