Libra Association member Bison Trails raises $25.5m funding

Bison Trails, a technology company that provides infrastructure for multiple blockchain networks, has completed a $25.5MM series A round of financing.

Led by Blockchain Capital, the investment is expected to help the company boost its profile and offerings following a ‘momentous year’ which includes becoming a founding member of the Libra Association Council.

Other participants include: Kleiner Perkins, Coinbase, Collaborative Fund, A Capital, Consensys, and Sound Ventures, as well as early investors Initialized, Accomplice, Galaxy Digital, and Notation.

“When we started building Bison Trails, we wanted to bring transparency and ease to entrepreneurs bold enough to build in a decentralised ecosystem, investors wise enough to back a nascent market, and enterprises courageous enough to commit to a technological inevitability like blockchain technology and cryptocurrency,” said Joe Lallouz, CEO of Bison Trails.

“We have become the easiest way to run infrastructure on multiple blockchains. And have helped the world’s leading protocols, companies and builders launch and manage secure, highly-available, and geographically distributed nodes on blockchain networks.”

Bison Trails provides a ‘robust infrastructure’ that enables node clusters on any protocol aimed at providing more room for innovation in the decentralised ecosystem.

It is the infrastructure provider for 20+ projects and believes its solutions removes the need to develop in-house protocol engineering competencies.

“We are building a block production and validation infrastructure platform that is secure, reliable, globally-distributed,” elaborated Aaron Henshaw, CTO of Bison Trails.

“Our team and culture plays a major role in that and is a huge focus for us as we continue expanding — we aim to bring together world-class engineering, product, and design teams to work together on some of the most interesting and challenging opportunities in the infrastructure space.”

“New protocols and next-generation crypto networks involve active participation by investors, end users and partners,” added Brad Stephens, co-founder & managing partner of Blockchain Capital.

“Bison Trails’ Blockchain Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform makes this easy for all stakeholders. Joe and Aaron are remarkable, serially successful entrepreneurs who have already demonstrated a strong leadership position in the industry.”
