German payments company Wirecard has announced a new collaborative partnership with transportation marketplace HERE Mobility to jointly develop integrated B2B2C payment and transportation services.
HERE Mobility, a unit of location platform services HERE Technologies, operates an open marketplace for all transportation services with over 2 million vehicles connected across Europe, Latin America, and the US.
The first project will see HERE’s Marketplace integrated into boon.PLANET, Wirecard’s digital bank account and wallet solution, enabling users to search, book and pay for rides without leaving the boon.PLANET app.
“We are excited to enter into a strategic alliance with Wirecard and benefit from the digital payment expertise they bring to the table,” commented Liad Itzhak, SVP Head of Mobility.
“Combined with our smart mobility solutions, we see our joint projects with Wirecard as having an enormous potential to revolutionise mobility services on a global scale.”
Wirecard predict a transaction potential of over €10 billion per year via its platform when all services are rolled out.
Additional projects include offering transportation services with an integrated payment flow for merchants in the travel and leisure industry, including airlines, hotels, restaurants and stadiums.
Furthermore, the two companies plan to work together in the area of personalised data solutions for businesses and end-consumers leading for example to predictive ride services.
It is also planned for Wirecard to act as one of the payment service providers for the firm.
